If you’ve always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now’s the time to find out. Start the journey of a lifetime with the PADI Open Water Diver course. It will change you forever. Throughout the course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing two separate sessions which are described below.

PART 1 Cost and Session Description:

For a limited time, ask how to receive a $100 dollar credit toward your PART 1
Session Fee – $125.00, Crew Pack – $120.00 and Video – $65.00

Part 1: Get Started Diving!

Knowledge Development and Confined Water Skill Development

Learn the lingo. During the first phase of your instruction, you develop an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving. You learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best scuba gear, and what to consider when planning dives. The student is required to purchase a Crew Pack that contains a diving manual, student folder, log book, recreational dive planner, and an instructional DVD. PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology, and safety procedures. For each concept, you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. We will ask you to read the manual, fill out the chapter knowledge reviews, and watch a video prior to the first class meeting.

We will customize class schedules for individual needs, but we normally start the classroom portion on Friday evening at 6:00 pm. You briefly review what you have studied in the five knowledge sections with your instructor and take a short quiz to be sure you’re getting it. On Saturday morning, you’ll take a longer quiz that makes sure you have all the key concepts and ideas down. You and your instructor will review anything that you don’t quite get until it’s clear.

On Saturday afternoon (remember we can customize your schedule) we head to a warm POOL. This is what it’s all about – DIVING. You develop basic scuba skills by scuba diving in a pool or body of water with pool-like conditions. Here you will learn everything from setting up your scuba gear to how to easily get water out of your scuba mask without surfacing. You will also practice some emergency skills, like sharing air or replacing your scuba mask. Plus, you may play some games, make new friends and have a great time. There are five confined water dives, with each building upon the previous. Over the course of these five dives, you attain the skills you need to dive in open water. It usually takes both Saturday and Sunday afternoon to finish the confined water skills.

You may make these dives near your home or at a more exotic destination while on a scuba vacation.
